COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System appointed Gaylene Nunn Vice President of Finance and Administration for Texas A&M University-Central Texas during their regular board meeting on Thursday, May 26, 2011. The appointment follows a competitive search process, the formal recommendation of a representative search committee, and the concurrence of the university President, Dr. Marc Nigliazzo.

As the Vice President of Finance and Administration, Ms. Nunn will provide administrative leadership, oversight, and support for the following units within the university: Business Affairs, Budgets & Payroll, Contract Administration, Human Resources, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Purchasing, and Security. The Vice President serves as both the Chief Administrative and Chief Financial Officer of the university responsible for the planning, development, and control of the institutional budget and all financial reporting.

Gaylene is a native of the Central Texas area and was born in Cameron, Texas. Her work experience has installed a strong commitment to customer service while providing a broad background in financial and accounting activities. She began her career working part-time for Safeway Stores, Inc. in Waco while attending McLennan Community College. Putting her education on hold, Gaylene transferred to Arlington where she worked full time in various positions with Safeway. She and her husband moved to Granbury where she resumed her education attending Weatherford College and Tarleton State University. Gaylene changed careers and spent seven years with Community Bank and five years with CBS Financial Group, both in Granbury.

In 2000, she moved to Lancaster and served as the Assistant Finance Director for the City of Lancaster. In 2005, Gaylene decided to return to Central Texas to be closer to her family and became the Director of Finance and Administration at the Tarleton State University-Central Texas in Killeen. Following the transition of the Tarleton System Center to a stand-alone university as Texas A&M University-Central Texas, Gaylene has served as the interim Vice President for Finance and Administration since July 2009.

Gaylene obtained both a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration from Tarleton State University, a Member of the Texas A&M University System, in Stephenville, Texas.

“It has been an incredible opportunity to be a part of the transition from Tarleton-Central Texas to a stand-alone university as A&M-Central Texas,” said Nunn. “With an unwavering commitment and service to our students and community, I am looking forward to continuing my role in effectively contributing to the university’s future growth and excellence through lifelong learning.”
